Here’s what parents are saying…
Our son started with Ms. Lindsey around 2.5 years old. He was struggling with some aggressive behavior with his peers, transitions were tough and sometimes physical for him, sensitive to loud noises, and always seemed to be crashing into things and very rough. We found Lindsey through a friend and loved that she worked out in nature to help us find a way in which we could provide our son with relief and guidance for his struggles. We have seen such a huge improvement with our son's behavior. She has given us the tools to help him with his sensory processing. Our transitions are much shorter, he can tolerate more noise, and he also has regular activities such as pulling and pushing certain things that help him! We have been so grateful for Ms. Lindsey, and our daily life truly has changed so much! She also provides at home kits that go along with the sessions! Our son also loves her and being outside so it’s a win for us all! Can’t recommend her enough!
When I found Forestways during a search for the perfect OT for my daughter, I immediately felt like Lindsey would be exactly what we needed and I was right. My daughter and I looked forward to her appointments with Lindsey every week. She made huge progress in a short amount of time. Lindsey has great expertise in many areas and I learned so much from our conversations! My daughter went from being cautious with motor movements to wanting to run, jump, and climb all the time! She feels more secure and confident in herself and abilities. It has been a beautiful thing to witness and I thank Lindsey for all her work with us and advice. Working with Lindsey has been amazing and we are forever thankful!
Lindsey has been such a blessing to our family! We reached out to her around September after experiencing sensory and ADHD symptoms with our son. We were at a loss and weren’t sure where to begin or what to do. Our son was not able to sit during circle time or nap time, struggled with taking turns, using gentle touches, couldn’t sit through church service, and many other events that included large groups and loud noises. After meeting Lindsey for the first time and hearing her philosophy on nature based OT, her experience and calm presence, we felt so at ease. I am happy to say our son is now able to successfully sit during circle time, is making great strides at school socially and was able to sit through Easter Sunday as well as his sister’s dance recital. We are absolutely amazed at the progress he has made with her within a short time span. Our son is always so excited to see Ms. Lindsey. We are so thankful for her and the huge impact she has had on our son and family. I honestly don’t know where we would be without her!

FAQs

Occupational therapy or “OT” helps people participate in the daily activities (or “occupations”) that are meaningful to them. Occupational therapists support children and their caregivers to gain skills to increase participation in play, school, work, leisure, social interaction, and activities of daily living.
Through skilled services, occupational therapy promotes physical and mental health and well-being to lead lives that are balanced, whole, and fulfilling.

Providing therapy session outdoors benefits children in many ways:
– Natural settings, away from the hustle and bustle of daily life, encourage a calm and alert nervous system.
– Research has found that there are many benefits of nature contact for children including increased attention, imaginative and social play, motor coordination and balance, and emotional restoration.
– Providing therapy outdoors allows for all the benefits of traditional occupational therapy with the added bonus of nature immersion for increased health and wellness outcomes.
-
Yes! Therapy sessions are moved indoors or canceled only when necessary due to extreme weather such as lightning, hail, or extreme cold.
With the right clothing, the outdoor environment is beneficial year-round. We enjoy the opportunity for play and exploration that comes with rain and snow!

Occupational therapy sessions are held in public parks in northern Franklin County and southern Delaware County. Parks are within a 15-20 minute drive of Hilliard, Dublin, Worthington, Powell, Delaware, Westerville, New Albany, Upper Arlington, and Clintonville.
TimberNook programs are located at the Farm at Harvest Hills in Delaware, Ohio.
These locations have play areas that allow for interaction with the natural world in a setting that provides a sense of being away from the built environment. We are also looking for additional locations in the greater Columbus area (public or private land) that support the mission of Forestways OT.
-
We are self-pay and do not accept insurance or county funding for occupational therapy at this time. If requested, Forestways OT can provide an invoice with CPT codes that insurance companies use to identify procedures. This "superbill" can only be generated at the end of a session after services have been provided. Please directly contact your insurance provider with this information prior to therapy to establish your eligibility and clarify the insurance plan’s requirements and specific procedures for reimbursement.
